No screws, mounting plate too small
The actual piece is ok but the plate is very small leaving virtually no metal between the screw hole and edge which looks very weak. Also no screws were included which makes no sense at all. I am giving this holder to a friend with a small boat who is going to use it as a net holder only. He will purchase his own screws. I will be very hesitant to order anything in the future. Rich Hess

Response from Boat Outfitters
Hi Richard, Thanks for sharing your feedback. Regarding the lack of screws, this is by design as we have no way of knowing the panel thickness where they are being installed. Some customers simply use lag screws, but most attempt to through bolt the rod holders. When through bolting, you'd need bolts/machine screws of appropriate length for your specific material thickness. That said, I'd agree that this should be explicitly stated on the product page so I will add that now for transparency. Thanks again for your honest feedback and we hope you'll give us another chance to exceed your expectations.

Minimal price, minimal quality. No regrets.
Well, I wasnt going to complain, but since you asked........I looked for inexpensive stainless flush mount rod holders online only to discover they were beyond my budget. Then I happened onto the boat outfitters site and bought two units for less than one high quality unit cost elsewhere. When my rod holders arrived I was less than enthused. The polishing was barely acceptable, the metal gage was merely adequate, and the craftsmanship was just average. Translation? I got what I paid for. Now for the negatives. There was no foam gasket included to seal the cavity under the deck flange. What would this cost the manufacturer, 6 cents? My final beef is the bolt hole pattern and placement makes using bolts for attachment nearly impossible due to their close proximity to the main tube. Supplying a slightly larger deck plate might cost the factory 60 cents but it would be worth far more to those not trusting screws in thin materials. Just discovered the character limit!
