Great look and durability
Really like the texture and durability. Gave my boat a great new look at a great price. I recommend going with the primer before applying the deck coating. It will assure a solid bond and will extend the life of your deck coat.

Do I need to prime bottom that has already been sealed with Smith's clear Penetrating epoxy?
Patrick on Mar 17, 2019
I have a small area of concrete that has been painted and now started peeling. Can I use this on a concrete surface next to my pool? Any issues with chlorine?
anchorman on Aug 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Great Question!

This material would work well for a pool deck. As a matter of fact, Tuffcoat is used in multiple waterparks across the country and on cruise docks internationally. For a concrete surface, I would make sure that you properly prime the surface with the CP-10 primer and apply two coats of the tuff coat.

Thanks Paul!
can I apply this Tuff coat over an existing vinyl pontoon boat floor?
Rich P on Apr 25, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Rich, I don't know if I would recommend painting right over the vinyl without removing it. It is probably best to remove that vinyl and paint over a bare surface. I would suggest as long as the surface is clean and you use the CP-10 primer.

I'm looking for a water proof plywood deck with living space below. Will this product work?
Pete O on Nov 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Pete, Tuff Coat is really designed to be just a non-skid deck paint. I would not use this material as your waterproofing agent. Your deck should be waterproofed before applying Tuff Coat. Thank you!
I have a wood deck that was coated with tuff coat medium about 8 years ago. It is still in good shape, not peeling. It is just a little faded and customer wants a fresh coat. Would one coat of the smooth do the job? I do not think I need to prime as the surface is still solid.
george b on Jul 25, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You can certainly paint over the old tuff coat, but Tuff Coat still recommends priming the surface again before putting down your new paint. Thank you!
I got dogs that scratch the paint on steel door will this keep them from being scratched ?
ricky c on May 31, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It is a very tough and awesome coating and not scratched easily. However, if your dog is like my dog, he can scratch just about anything. Clawed through my wood fence 6 times. Powder coating is about as tough a surface as it can get.
The decks on my 40’ boat are covered with tuff deck that is about 10/20 years old and someone has painted over it. The paint and Tuff Deck are not pealing but there is some cracking. Can I paint over it with tuff deck or do I need to remove the old first?
Lisa L on Oct 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: All you need to do is wash the deck and let it completly dry. Then just apply a new coat of tuff coat.

What prep. work needed on fiberglass is needed? How many layers of primer and coating? What is curing time between each layer? what is final curing time?
Daniel M on Jul 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hey Daniel, great question. The fiberglass surface needs to be sanded thoroughly, then de-greased and cleaned. One coat of primer is fine. For the actual Tuff Coat, it is recommended to use two coats on areas that have light traffic and three coats on areas that have heavy traffic. Thanks!
How is this product on bare skin when out in the sun all day in the summer time? Louisiana gets mighty Hot !
Daniel M on Jul 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The darker colors will certainly get hotter than the light colors. I have white tuff coat on my skiff here in central Florida, and I have not run into a time when the deck was too hot to touch. Thank you!
Is this product easily stained by fish blood or mud?
Daniel M on Jul 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I've had no issues with fish blood or anything else staining Tuff Coat.
I want to apply over old fiberglass. What are the directions for applications. Specifically prepping the surface?
carolyn w on Jun 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hey Carolyn, great question. You should sand the surface until it is thoroughly scuffed paying special attention to any spots that may chip or have deep cracks, degrease the surface with with ZEP purple or simple green, then apply Tuff Coat primer before painting. however the manufactures directions are linked below. Please feel free to call us with any additional questions.
