  • White Expanded PVC Sheet
  • Easy to fabricate using standard woodworking tools
  • Will not rot, swell, splinter or delaminate when exposed to humidity or water.
  • Easy to clean and never needs refinishing
Expanded PVC sheets are extruded sheets of PVC with a foaming agent added to slightly expand the material, reduce the density of the sheet, and give it an expanded core. This sheet is a solid homogeneous extruded sheet with smooth surfaces, but if you look at the end grain of the material you will see a slightly cellular edge. The purpose of the foaming is to reduce the actual amount of plastic in the sheet. This reduces the cost of the sheet while also reducing the weight. If you are familiar with Azek building material, expanded PVC sheet is a very similar product. It is impervious to water and holds staples and paint well. This makes it a very cost effective material for upholstery substrates. Expanded PVC can also be easily heat formed and glued with PVC cements and fabricated using standard woodworking materials.

The trade off for lower cost, weight, and density is a slightly less rigid material. Thus, in some large seat cushion panels, King Starboard or Starlite are better long term options. Also, the cellular edge of expanded PVC sheet can collect dirt and be somewhat difficult to keep clean.

Needed to cover the hole left by my old boat control so I could replace it. Worked perfectly for my project. I will use it again. It cuts like wood and is easy to work with. Looks great on the finished product.

Quick but nice live well seat cover
Rounded the front corners of this seat with a hand held jig saw. Then took a rasp to round of the edges. Took about 10 minutes total. Then installed plate of plastic onto the existing piano hinge and installed a purchased, matching in dimensions, cooler cover. Took total time of around one hour.

Can this be use to replace a 78' x 38" wall panel on a boat?
Sandy W on Apr 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I purchased this panel as a replacement for a boat seat cushion bottom panel and was looking for something that was thicker than the typical 1/2 inch crap the OEM used.
I have to replace my transom door. It's about 25x28x1 and it's held on with a piano hinge. Would it be better to use this material or starboard?
Matthew S on Jan 30, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I used this as a core material sandwiched between fiberglass for extra strength. I’m not sure how well it would work if you instead to stand on it. If it will just be used as a cover an not expected to hold heavy weight it will work fine.

can this be use to build a front and back deck k on a boat 1 in thick ?
Jesse on Apr 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: AS long as you properly support if
I would like to add a portion to my bow platform to stand on fishing. It's 1 1/2" thick and I'm thinking of a piece of Starboard 3/4" thick along with the same of this Expanded PVC 3/4" thick. The size is only 21" x 29". Will this work?
Orley S on Feb 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Either material would make a good top layer but you would be best served by having some form of metal stiffener beneath the top lay as Starboard is very bendy. In addition, even though expanded PVC is stiff enough to span 12-15 inches for a seat, I don't think that is has the rigidity to use as a base layer to stand on.
Im looking to use a support for a folding bench seat. Will it hold weight? Will it flex under weight? My bench seat only has 2 hinges supposting load? Or wojld starboard be the best way to go?
Michel S on Jan 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I’d use starboard. I had the same concern and I was advised to use starboard. Since I’ve seen this break in similar applications
can it be heated to bend?
william h on Jan 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi William, Great question! You can bend these sheets with heat. My only concern is the possibility of snapping if bent too quick or bent at too sharp of an angle.
Will these boards work good for making sleigh and reindeer?
Karen H on Dec 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi Karen, Great question! This material is perfect for making something like that. It is exactly the same material we use on a different website to manufacture nativity sets.

It cuts very easily with household tools. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at 866-633-7961.
will this accept and hold staples? Can it bend slightly? I want to replace deteriorating marine plywood backing for backrests in bow.
Linda F on May 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hello Linda, it can bend slightly and will hold staples. Depending on the dimensions of the piece it may be a little difficult to bend into place and get it to stay but that would really come down how it is attached to the mounting surface.

A shopper on May 1, 2018
