Winter Checklist
From haul-out to hibernation, this checklist has your back. Fix what you find with one-click links to the parts you need.
1. Corrosion Protection
2. Trailer Check
- Inspect: Bunk slides, guide posts, step pads, winch strap, and safety chains.
- Replace: Cracked bunks/pads; tires past service life or with low tread/uneven wear.
- Test: Lights and wiring; clean/secure grounds to prevent spring gremlins.
- Pro tip: Fix it now—it’s easier than at the ramp on opening day.
3. Water & Drainage
- Flush: Livewell and deck drains to clear debris before storage.
- Replace: Worn deck drains, scuppers, and scupper flaps that stick or leak.
- Inspect: Hoses & clamps for cracks or drips; tighten or swap as needed.
- Seal up: Address missing/broken seals—rub rail, windshield, deck, hatch & door.
4. Plumbing & Fills
- Inspect: Through-hulls, deck drains, deck fills, and drain plugs—everything tight & sealed.
- Replace: Deck fills with cracked caps or corroded flanges; renew O-rings.
- Service: Verify drain plugs and spares are in good shape and labeled.
- Check: Fuel vent/overflow fittings and screens for salt or insect debris.
5. Latches, Hinges, & Hardware
- Inspect: Hinges, latches, and gas shocks—replace anything rusted, bent, or loose.
- Service: Clean & lube sliding door tracks, trucks, and wheels.
- Replace: Missing cabin door keys, worn strikers, or tired door holders.
- Off-season tip: Plan measurements for BYO doors & hatches so spring installs are plug-and-play.
6. Deck Hardware & Line Protection
- Inspect: Cleats, hawse pipes, and deck plates for corrosion or burrs that could chafe lines.
- Replace/Upgrade: Pitted hardware or sharp-edged fairleads; smooth burrs to protect rope.
- Check: Anchor locker rollers and chafe points; add guards where needed.
- Service note: Drain/air-purge any transom shower or washdown lines per your boat manual.

7. Pumps & Maintenance
- Inspect: Bilge, livewell, macerator, and washdown pumps for corrosion, leaks, or busted impellers.
- Flush: Run clean, fresh water through all pumps and hoses to remove salt, debris, and buildup.
- Replace: Any pump with damaged wiring, cracked housings, or weak motor output.
- Service tip: Label wiring and hoses now — it’ll save confusion when reconnecting in spring.
8. Storage & Cleaning
- Clean: Wash decks, lockers, and hardware with marine-safe cleaner to remove salt, grime, and mildew.
- Wrap: Cover the boat with shrink wrap or a fitted cover, adding vents to prevent trapped moisture.
- Support: Position stands and pads evenly, chaining and leveling them before long-term storage.
- Replace: Torn wrap, missing vents, or cracked stand pads — swap before winter weather hits.
