Black acrylic is commonly used for doors, hatches and acrylic dash surrounds. Acrylic sheet has a high gloss shiny finish that closely matches the boat's fiberglass gel coat. This allows you to fabricate components parts such as doors, dash panels, etc. that blend into the boat for a flush clean look.

Key Features:

  • High gloss shiny finish matches your boats gel coat
  • Can be heat formed for bent applications
  • Requires secondary polishing operation for edges to match surface gloss

Great product, easy to use. I cut my own piece, I used 1/4 inch, had plenty of support behind my specific project, however 1/4 in is flimsy if not supported correctly

Instrument Panel
I ordered the 1/2" black acrylic for my instrument panel, and Boat Outfitters machined it to the size of the old one. They got it exactly how I wanted it and ordered it. As you can see it changed the look of the helm completely. I have done many projects with Boat Outfitters, and everything has been nothing but awesome. The service and attention to detail is amazing. I will continue doing business with them in the near future.

I need to piece cut for my dash. Do you accept a traced template?
A shopper on Apr 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Great question! We would love to work with you on your project and would be able to create something for you from a template or provided dimensions. Please reach out to us to get started. We look forward to hearing from you.
Is this material extruded or cast acrylic?
A shopper on Dec 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'd be happy to help! Almost all of our acrylic is cast acrylic as it is typically a higher quality material than extruded acrylic, and is more predictable (as far as expansion and contraction) when heating and bending. Thank you!
Can you drill through this with a wood or metal bit and if so what kind of bit do you use? And after I drill a pilot hole can I use a very fine tooth jigsaw to cut out the templates for my display screens
Todd K on May 18, 2019
I used my piece of acrylic for a helm on a boat. Did exactly what you are questioning. Drilled pilot holes with sharp wood bits and cut out large space for a GPS unit. Very easy to do. Keep plastic on sheet or put down blue masking tape. Also drilled 2" holes with hole bit. All very easy. Don't go too close to the edge as it becomes very week and can break. I know from experience. Go slow and you should have great success. Good luck.
I have a 2012 searay 410 sundancer. The starboard forward salon plexiglass “window”—black color in the shape of a triangle popped out on a rough ride. I need to replace this plexiglass panel. Can you do this?
Matthew L on Aug 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Great question. Yes, This is something we would be able to do. Please give us a call to discuss the specifics of your project.
What do you need to cut this?
Todd B on Aug 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Great question. We cut this material on the router to produce the best results. That said, at home, you can use most of the same tools you would use for general woodworking to make cuts - the higher tooth count on the blade the better.
can i send you a digital template for a piece of acrylic plexiglass i need cut?

Is this this acrylic suitable for overhead electronic box on a center console boat?
A shopper on Nov 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely! This the same material we use in house when building OEM parts for over 200 boat builders. Please let us know if you have any other questions or if there is anything else we can do for you.
is the black also translucent as for port-lites?
Jim B on May 17, 2019
I need a 24"x24" for an outside table. Would this material be able to be engraved without ruining the laser? If so what material would you suggest? Wood would be expensive as it would require marine grade epoxy which is very expensive..
