Conversion Van Market

Over the past couple years Andrew you've done a really good job of bringing some of the products that we built here at boat Outfitters in tcyle to some of the different conversion van industry that we know is just exploding right now. um you know a lot of that makes a lot of sense right when it comes to the same issues right on a boat people are looking to to store 20 pounds of stuff and 10 pounds worth of space and so youknow having that storage efficiency so importan. um you know we're seeing that same thing on the conversion van. I know you're working with a couple couple different Builders. what type of products are you building
Andrew 0:43
It's stuff that's similar to it's very similar to what we do on the Marine side so you have access doors for storing dishes and plates and silverware and then there's you know full drawer units all the way up to custom stair units to get into the top bunk of the bed so I mean it's a lot of pretty similar parts that we do in the Marine space.

Yean I’ve seen you kind of work through some different pricing with Matt recently on some of the different Corian stuff as well which I think is important you know as we look a lot of times at other verticals. You know we try to go okay well this is a one-to-one Boat Outfitter built a lot of different storage boxes you know drawer units, etc. and there is a one-to-one the same thing can be said for some of the other cabinetry as well as the Corian so you know it's something that we want people to be mindful that as they look for that that industry you know its something we can definitely bring them some level of service.

What are you seeing different, like what’s the difference in the parts that you’re building for the conversion van or off-road vehicle market versus what we do in for boats. I know there’s similarities, but
Andrew 1:48
To be completely honest I mean there's not a whole lot of differences. I mean the countertop space that we do in a summer kitchen you know for a 36 Outrage is very similar to what we do in the camper van section as well as far as you know kitchen countertops and sink tops.
Matt 2:03
Right, when the’re moving through production you don’t know the difference. You don’t know if its for a boat or van like a off-road vehicle.
Andrew 2:09
You almost can’t tell I mean going though production you’d think that they were boat parts that’s how similar they are. But yeah, anything all the way from access doors to glove boxes to cutting tops to stair units like I said. It’s just such a wide range of parts that we can do in that space its super cool.
Jared 2:28
Yeah, I think that to answer your question too, Matt, one of the things that is specific to one of the builders we’re working with you know we needed to bring in some weight-bearing slides right you know our slides that we use a lot on our drawer units they support up to i think 100 pounds or what not and you know we’re able to put a bunch of lead weights in them but you know in this specific application it was actually going to be used as a drawer unit but also a stair way to get up into the actual bed and so you know we worked with a vendor to source some heavier duty slides that I think hold like 600 pounds or something like that. So yeah I’d say that is a difference.
The nice thing is you know we as a company have a lot of good relationships we’re able to make one phone call and get those in so you know for years on the Teak Isle side, we’ve done a lot by the way of some of the RV market. You know some of the RV markets from a price standpoint you know we’re not necessarily able to compete you know when it’s a dollar over a dollar and certain things but we’re seeing with this conversion van, people are looking for higher-end products that work really really well which is our language on the boat side. You know we aren’t the cheapest game in town but we make a really good product and we’ll always be here to be able to serve our customers and so you know that’s been significant and one of the things that I think everybody over the past couple years hae seen you know issues with the workforce and getting the right people in and being able to staff and that is something that I think on this camper van or overland vehicle side we’ve been helpful with a lot of our clients absolutely being an extension of their workforce. You know, they’ve got orders orders orders coming though the door and we need to be there for them to be able to be hey we’ll build that portion of it if you guys focus on the frame and all that good stuff, we’ll build the component parts and its been very helpful the times that we’ve reached out and spoke to a couple accounts that you have it seems like we’re making a real big impact for them.
Andrew 4:22
Oh absolutely. Anytime that you can focus on moving more vehicles through and not worrying about the small doors or countertops, you know its just a big win.
Yeah, you know you and I had a chance here recently to go out to the Southeast Overland Expo and you know again seeing some really cool stuff there that’s similar to what we do as we innovate a lot of again small space need to store a lot of stuff and being able to find a way to get 20 gallons of stuff in a 10 gallon bucket is kind of where we really focus on that side so you know its been something thats good for the business and look forward to continuing to do more.

It’s super neat just from this the spectrum of going this is a living space that probably I’d say gets more foot traffic than you know a boat would so for the materials to hold up that we offer they like do I mean, It’s awesome.
