Cabin Door Latch Key Code
Jared 00:08
Alright guys cabin entry door latches. So we sell quite a few of those latches by themselves.
But, you know, TJ you worked down in customer service and our sales department and get quite
a few calls from people trying to find out what key they need to get back into it right, whether it's
a boat that was a used boat that was sold and the key wasn't transferred as part of that or if they
lost it. So, you know, walk us through a normal thing for a customer that can't locate that key and
they call us what's the first thing we do to help find the right key?
TJ Corcoran 00:36
Yeah, absolutely. So first thing I'm going to have do is to send some photos that way we’re
looking at talking about the same latch. Then at that point, I point them to the back of the latch
where you can actually locate the key code, in this case, this particular one is 912. And at that
point, we verify we have the 912 key on hand and get it shipped out for him.
Jared 00:52
Awesome. So that's a really good solution for people that can access the back of that latch,
right? The code is going to be on the slider lock, that said, if they have locked themselves out, you
know, there's not an option to pull that key code that's happened a couple times Matt, how do we
deal with that?
Matt 01:09
Yeah, if you don't have a flat key, like the flat keys have the key code on them, right? If you've
lost the keys, maybe they're lost the Davy Jones locker and the doors locked and now you can't
get in. What we've done in the past is just order all 20 keys, you can order all 20 keys, go through
them, send 19 back and once you figure out which one is the right key, now you've got access,
you know, the key code that you need, if you want to order spares, you can do that from that
point.
Jared 01:32
Awesome. So you've got another latch here, different style and you want to walk us through
that in the same way to find the key code as well.
Matt 01:38
Yeah, so this is a security door latch it works. It's got a little slider on the back. It's used
primarily with latche lids that close down over folding doors. This is a unique latch in the sense that
the key code isn't always visible when it's in the open position. It's not like when you slide the
slider down. There's a three-digit code there that indicates the key code in this case, it's a 932 key.
So the flat keys all match the 932 key code.
These are the ones that you typically put on your keychain for maybe your ignition so you don't lose them. They're always on hand. But this latch also comes with a Day key. It's got a little knob on the end of it and it's intended to be left in the latch all day. So while you're running the boat, it's in there you got to you want to move the boat maybe you're going from fishing spot to fishing spot or sandbar to sandbar you pick it up and run it, you want to open the latch so that you can lift the hatch up and do whatever you need to do, and then close the hatch. Lock it down. So nothing's moving. Nothing's banging around and nothing breaks that way at the end of the day, you can pull the day key out from inside the cabin, lock the latch with your flat key and you're off.
Jared 02:49
Awesome. Yeah, so just to kind of wrap things up. The basis are if you have access to the
door. Generally, that key code for these cabin door latches is going to be on the slider locking
mechanism is or the handle in the case, the one that TJ was showing. Outside of that we have a
team of people here Monday to Friday eight to five that again, you send us a picture you send us
know we send you a text or whatever you send us a picture back we're able to help you locate that
code. So awesome. Thanks, guys.
