Pontoon Drawer Units
Matt 0:07
But I mean we've been doing drawer units for a long time for the fish boat and pleasure boat industry it just makes sense that we would do some drawer units for the Pontoon Market that we're really starting to break into.
Andrew 0:19Storage is a pain in the butt I mean I remember growing up on my grandparents Pontoon and the only place yeah it was underneath the uh the bench seats and they were all half the time filled with old ratty life jackets or it was wet yeah it's wet and moldy and everyone stand up so that to get into it.
Matt 0:37Yeah it's just annoying big catch-all space. But you know, we’ve done some drawer units now, right
Pat 0:43So we've done some drawer units and we you know we identified the uh the area where uh Builders were putting in a changing room which are totally useless for you know 90 of the people there's never using those areas so you know we looked at those and of course they are kind of a stepped area where they're shallow at the top and they get progressively deeper to the bottom so.
Andrew 1:05Because it's the actual backrest
Pat 1:06Yeah you're running back against the backrest so at the top we figured uh you know we had an area to do a nice fold out glove box uh so we could put a locking glove box which gives you a place to put your wallet and keys if you're stopped at a you know a restaurant or something like that and then down below which you can do a couple of drawers um and in the lower drawer we uh have a couple of units that actually have space for uh coolers you know small backpack coolers and stuff like that and then in the upper area uh we're able to uh do some different phone uh charger uh USB ports and stuff like that so it's really been a good area to be able to put the stuff that you don't want to get wet nasty in.
Matt 1:46Right because it may have your phone and it makes sense like the operator the captain whoever's driving the boat has all of that stuff in front of them right, they can plug their phone into the cigarette lighter or maybe there's a charger built in but nobody else on the boat has access to any of that right so that’s a major problem solver.
Andrew 2:02God forbid we don't have our phones. So, the uh all the different drawer units I know we've done quite a bit but for most of them have you designed that they're designed to fit the lounge back rest of the Associated Builder right so there’s a handful of different sizes?
Pat 2:19In a perfect world all of the builders would use the same backrest but that's not the case uh most all of them are different you know they're a couple inches shorter wide or whatever it may be or deeper and stuff like that so uh you know we have developed them specifically for the different Builders uh you know and the beauty of that is it's an easy change out part you know you literally take the changing room door off you slide this part into place it's already fitted for the space available um so it's literally uh you know a 30 40 minute change out you take out 10. yeah, screw the other one in your you're in business.
Andrew 2:55That's cool I'll tell you one other one worth mentioning I know it's not a drawer unit but uh you know the fold out trash cans right because it's similarly uh you know a a challenge really on on any boat there's never really good trash you know for trash in the cup holders.
Matt 3:07The last thing that anyone thinks about is where am I going to put all the stuff when I'm done with it.
Andrew 3:11You know so that's another another good one for that area for sure.
Pat 3:13And we can utilize that top area still for the um the glove box area and it has a trash can filled out below that.
Andrew 3:21Because you got that same depth challenge where.
Pat 3:23You do, yeah, you can’t use that top area for much other than a shallow uh glove box area.
