Boat Outfitters has made its name supplying OEM replacement parts, innovative accessories, and fabrication materials to individual boat owners. But the company’s capabilities go well beyond that. In fact, Boat Outfitters supplies numerous business customers as well, ranging from boat builders to rigging and electronics shops to marina operators, often working closely with clients to design and engineer custom solutions.

In several instances, marina owners or operators have turned to Boat Outfitters for wide-ranging support in outfitting or upgrading their facilities. Those partnerships have yielded a number of innovative ideas that are applicable not only to commercial marinas but also to public launching facilities and residential docks.

  • Starboard Dock Triangles/Corners

Adding King Starboard triangular corner sections to the inside corners between finger docks and main docks creates significant additional square footage with virtually no downside. Triangles make excellent locations for electric and water pedestals and ports as well as triangular dock boxes, keeping main walkways clear.

Triangles are most often made with traditional dock-building materials like galvanized steel and wood. But King Starboard won’t corrode, rot, delaminate or fade, cleans up easily, won’t mar or damage boat hulls, and never requires sanding, sealing, painting or staining. Starboard triangles are also relatively lightweight and easy to install.

Adding King Starboard triangular corner sections to the inside corners between finger docks and main docks creates significant additional square footage with virtually no downside.

As the largest purchaser and user of Starboard in the world, Boat Outfitters is able to offer exceptional values. In fact, for one large order of dock triangles, the company sourced specially sized panels from the manufacturer, King Plastics, simplifying manufacturing and passing the savings on to the marina operator.

    ColorCore Signage

There are lots of options for marina signage. Messages can be printed, painted, adhered or carved on placards made of metal, plastic, wood or a variety of other materials. Among those options is high density polyethylene (HDPE) sheeting with layers of contrasting colors that can be “engraved” by machining away the first layer of color to expose the contrasting second layer. The best known of these sheet materials is King ColorCore, made by the same company that makes its close cousin, Starboard.

Boat Outfitters offers several slip number signs and horizontal and vertical dock signs, but can also quickly design and turn around fully custom signage.

Engraved ColorCore signage has a higher initial cost than many alternatives, but the return on that investment is considerable. ColorCore will never rot like wood, corrode like metal or delaminate like fiberglass. And because text and artwork is engraved into the surface, it will never fade or wear like paint, printing ink or decals. ColorCore signage is also essentially maintenance-free, requiring no sanding, sealing, staining, painting, or anything else besides an occasional hosing down.

    Fish Cleaning Stations

Boat Outfitters has a number of “off the shelf” cleaning tables in its catalog, ranging from small stations designed for a single user to eight-foot tables that can accommodate multiple users. The company can also design and manufacture custom cleaning tables to whatever specifications customers require. All table tops are made from 1/2” King Starboard with powder-coated aluminum legs. Options include:

    Dock Bumpers

Bumpers don’t just protect boats; they also protect docks. But not all bumpers are created equal. Boat Outfitters stocks a full range of marine-grade, UV-stabilized vinyl bumpers from Barbour Plastics. Quality vinyl bumpers are non-marring, rigid enough to effectively absorb impacts from larger vessels, virtually impervious to sun and salt and provide a clean, seamless appearance.

Supplied in 5-foot or 10-foot “sticks,” these bumpers are cost-effective and easier to install than coiled bumper material, which must be straightened before installation and requires multiple installers to hold in place. P-profile, D-profile and hybrid profile bumpers are available in white, gray and black. P-profile is available in three different sizes, while D-profile is available in two sizes. Tool (and Toy) Holders

Boat Outfitters is perhaps best known for innovative storage solutions, and that holds true on the dock as well as on board.

Among the popular items for marinas and residential docks are piling-mounted hose and dock line holders, washdown nozzle holders, pole holders (for brushes, boat hooks, etc.), and SUP racks, all machined from durable, zero-maintenance King Starboard. With a team of highly experienced project managers and engineers, though, Boat Outfitters regularly designs and executes custom solutions.

    Dock Boxes, Steps and Containers

With a full selection of rectangular and triangular fiberglass dock boxes ranging in size from 25” long to 96” long in several heights and finish levels, Boat Outfitters can provide storage solutions for any marina or dock.

Also available are fiberglass steps with or without internal storage and sturdy, attractive fiberglass containers for 20-gallon and 30-gallon trash cans.
